Rod Replacement Surgery

(8/12/2008)

August 15, 2008 - Surprise, surprise - we are home!!  Late on the 13th, Corbin ended up losing his IV.  Our nurse called Dr. Simmons (Corbin’s surgeon) and asked him if Corbin could take the rest of his antibiotics by mouth, rather than starting another IV.  Dr. Simmons gave the go ahead - so Corbin was line free.  Corbin had to take 3 doses in the hospital, but after that, he was discharged from the hospital (around noon yesterday.)  Yeah!  I must say I was really, really thankful to come home.  Corbin was so hyper in the hospital.  He was jumping around, hiding under his crib, running, etc.  I felt really bad - but seriously - enough is enough!  I finally found that even the hospital has a “time out” spot!  Anyway, we are home now and just keeping his pain under control.  Thank you for keeping us in your prayers!

August 13, 2008 - Well, Corbin is running around and playing like a wild man.  His pain is being tolerated, so now we are just waiting for him to get the go ahead to go home.  I am just basically chasing Corbin around, trying to keep him from pulling out his IV.  We are hopeful that we will be home by the weekend.  This is much faster than we anticipated, so we are extremely thankful!  Off to chase the boy!!

August 12, 2008 - Corbin’s rod replacement surgery was this afternoon and went really well.  We were able to go to a normal room rather than the ICU and were told that we would only have to stay in the hospital a few days.  Great and surprising news!  Corbin is awake, alert, and enjoying watching the “lymps” on tv.  I just left Jonathan and Corbin for the night, so hopefully we will all get a good nights rest.
