Today has been a long day! We got to the hospital at 8:00 this morning, knowing we were going to be Dr. Simmons’ 2nd case. About 9:40, the nurses let us know that the 1st surgery was going to take a while longer and Corbin could drink clear liquids until 10:00 and he would probably go back to surgery between 12:00 and 1:00. So, Corbin downed a can of gatorade in record time and we waited some more. Thank goodness for grandparents and iphone apps! The longer we waited, the more the anticipation of surgery set in for Corbin. Also, for being a non-eater, Corbin was pretty hungry by 12:00! So we had a sad/mad boy on our hands. When Jonathan and I were changing his clothes to go into holding, he was ANGRY!! He screamed, growled, and made claw hands at us. While it was a sad sight, Jonathan and I got pretty tickled! His surgery started around 2:00. Dr. Simmons expanded his rod and reseated the bottom hook back on his pelvis, which apparently had worked its way through his bone/slipped out of place. He was very pleased with how the surgery went. Dr. Sheppard gave Corbin lots of pain medicine and he woke up a lot more peaceful than last time. We made it to our room about 6:00 tonight. It was a long but successful day, but hopefully the night will be uneventful. Due to the reseating, we expect his recovery to be a little longer than usual. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. Now a couple of pictures of our day. The first is our sad little boy before surgery and the second is getting to see Callie after surgery, his favorite part of the day.

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I have been terrible at keeping you updated on this surgery. The good news is that we are home! There truly is no place like home! Corbin has had a pretty rough time this go round. On the 24th, he was just a little off all day. He didn’t want to walk, and if you know our active little guy, that is a big deal. He just wanted us to carry him and if you did get him to walk, it was a terrible site - very stiff, limping, and just a lot of pain. On Thursday he had a hard time tolerating his pain medicine. This was a losing battle, because he couldn’t keep his medicine down but his pain really needed the medicine. Anyway, that eventually got worked out and now we are home. As of today, Corbin is still very sore but his attitude seems a little better. He played pretty hard and seemed a little happier than the past few days. He still is not walking normal but at least he wants to be carried less. He is such a brave little thing and we are really proud of him.
