Third Expansion
(2/3/2009)
FEBRUARY 3, 2009 - Corbin’s 3rd expansion surgery was today. We had pre-op yesterday morning, and Corbin decided that was about all the surgery he needed! Corbin was the second case this morning. When they called his name to go upstairs, he started to get a little nervous. Before they took him back into the OR, the nurse gave him his goofy medicine. Although this calmed him down, he was not ready to be taken away from mom and dad... and he let everyone in the holding room know about it! He was screaming and apparently this didn’t stop once the doors shut us out! He yelled at his anesthesiologist “I want my mommy - NOW!!!” and “PUT ME DOWN - NOW!” Nice - I’m glad that goofy medicine worked so well this time! As for the surgery, it went really well. We are now just recovering. Corbin is pretty sore and stiff, but hopefully he and Jonathan will have a good night in the hospital tonight. Callie and I are off to the hotel and hopefully we will all get to go home tomorrow. In other news, Callie is now 4 months old. We will try to post pictures soon.
FEBRUARY 6, 2009 - Although Corbin is a little sore, he is playing like crazy and enjoying being a little boy. We were released from the hospital late Wednesday afternoon (2/4) and headed home. All in all, the hospital stay was good. This time Corbin really hated being put down - laying down for x-rays, laying on the examining table, being wheeled off for surgery, etc. It could break your heart if you let it. :) Now that we are home, he occasionally tells me his back hurts and tries to touch his incision. But as I type this, he is jumping and dancing to Dora. Kids are truly amazing! Our next surgery will probably be late this summer and Dr. Simmons is planning on putting the other rod back in his back. Although this makes me a little nervous, I feel confident in Dr. Simmons. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers. Here is a picture from yesterday (2 days post-op) to show you how our boy is recovering...
